Great read DYM.

I wanted to like the ad but to be honest I was underwhelmed. The ambition, scale and distribution strategy is all applaudable, but it felt like with that cast and budget it could have been way better. I get everyone's going wild because it's a huge swing, has massive names and strong production value... but they were looking to tick so many boxes that the storyline fell short, and it was trying really hard (the AI Beckham etc felt corny to me). I really wanted to love it but something felt off.

Nice article!! I also wrote my own piece on the advert - it’s on my substack for anyone interested

When I saw the teaser video yesterday I texted my soccer-loving husband that Adidas and Timmy have finally gotten me to care about soccer 😂 Just brilliant.

Great article. So well executed by Adidas. We were here first in soccer, and we never left. Brand as origin story.

This has just put Nike in a really tough spot! Personally, I don't think Nike will disappear as a sports brand, but getting back to the top will be a long road. On the other hand, Adidas has spent the last 10 years demonstrating how well they adapt to the market as true leaders.
