60 days into his new role, Hill gave investors what they'd been craving for years: an honest assessment of the brand's predicament and what it needed to do to get back on track.
Stoked for the Nike turnaround. In my review of the Pegasus Plus back in November, I basically went full scorched earth on how Nike had lost its way in running and in general, a far cry from the golden days of marketing that meant something because it was centered around sport. Getting back to that will go a long way in regaining trust. I mean, with how much running has boomed in the last few years, it is shocking how bad they’ve been at cultivating community and leaning into key regional partners. Like, they abandoned all of that while ASICS, Hoka, and New Balance went all-in. In 2018 there was nobody hotter than Nike and now they’ve fallen to one of the least desirable brands in running (though I do think the beginning of the turnaround is already happening from the product I’ve seen for 2025, as well as the Winning Is Everything campaign, love it or hate it.)
Look forward to hearing your insights, you clearly know the space well!
Thanks Madeline! More coming soon!
Great sharing and insights, enjoyed reading this. Looking forward to Nike’s turnaround, pretty sure it’ll be a glorious comeback.
Thanks for reading Jasmine! I agree, I think it's going to be fun to watch.
